Duden Waterfall

Duden Waterfall
Duden Waterfall is one of the two famous waterfalls of Antalya. It is located in Varsak Neighbourhood, within the borders of Kepez District. The interesting feature of Duden Waterfall is that it is in the city, with buildings around it, in a position where you can pass by on your way to the market and work.
It is also referred to as İskender Waterfall and Upper Duden Waterfall in various sources. There are also those who call it Düdenbaşı Waterfall among the people. At the 28th kilometre of the old Antalya-Burdur road, two large karst springs named Kırkgözler and Pınarbaşı at the 30th kilometre. These two rivers with plenty of water merge after a short flow and disappear in the Bıyıklı Sinkhole. The water disappearing in the Bıyıklı Sinkhole emerges from one end of the Varsak Depression after travelling 14 kilometres underground, and after a very short flow, it sinks again from the other end of the depression.
The water lost in Varsak rises back to the surface at Düdenbaşı after two kilometres of underground flow.
Even on days when no water flows from the surface, at least 10 cubic metres of water per second rises to the surface under Düdenbaşı Waterfall. The maximum flow rate of this water is 94 cubic metres and the average is 15-16 cubic metres per second.
