Inner Castle

Inner Castle
Kaleiçi, which is surrounded by internal and external walls in the shape of a horseshoe, most of which have been destroyed and destroyed, is one of the places you should definitely see in Antalya. If we say that it is a common work of Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods, you can imagine what kind of cultural synthesis it is. There are around 3000 houses with tile roofs within the city walls. The unique structures of the houses give information about the architectural history of Antalya. At the same time, these mansions are still the centre of social life in Antalya today. You can see the lifestyle, traditions and customs in the region in the best way in Kaleiçi.

Antalya Inner Harbour and Kaleiçi was taken under protection as a "protected area" by the "Real Estate Antiquities and Monuments High Council" in 1972 due to its original texture. It was also awarded the Golden Apple Tourism Oscar by FİJET (International Tourism Writers Association) on 28 April 1984.
